Colorado Part 1

This trp was special for me. It meant so much to me. I felt close and connected to Colorado before, but I feel even closer now.  It is in my blood. Josh took a lot of great pics on his camera, these are just the selects from mine.  More to come. and more story to accompany them.

Pillow Talk.

Usually getting Sonny to sleep at night is seemless. We lay down and within 20-40 minutes he is sleeping and I sneak out.  Last night though, it was like having a real kid that didn't want to sleep.  He was a complete chatterbox.  This is how it went down:

*He only had a 30 min nap earlier and when we were getting ready for bed he was having a complete tired melt down so I thought sleeping would be easy.

After nursing for 10 min:
me: Ok, love it's time to sleep good night.
him: milk? milk? milk? milk?
me: No, boobies are sleeping.
him: Peeeeaaassss
me: Not right now, it's time to sleep.
**Amublance Sirens**
him: Ambance???
me: yep
him: see it??
me: Now it's time to sleep, we can see an ambulance another time, ok?
him: yep-a (his Yep's and Nope's have very hard P sounds)
**Tossing and turning**
**Motorcycle goes by**
him: brrrvrooom brrrvrooom (making hand gestures of turning handle- I am sure there is a word for that - did this repeatidly)
him: Mama. mama. mama. mama.
me: yes love?
him: mocykal?
me: yes.
him: see it?
me: Not right now, but tomorrow you can see one.
him: ok. ONE DAY?!?!?
me: Yes, one day.
him: Bibbit? one day bibbit?
me: (trying so hard not to laugh) yes, love, one day you can have a bibbit.

**Ok, so on Tuesday or Wednesday while eating dinner, we were watching Planet Earth and there was a frog. Sonny said "I want" I said "One day you can have one". He said "One day?" I said, "yes, one day you have have a frog (be calls frogs bibbit's) when you are a little older."**

him: (grabbing my face in both his hands - looks me in the eyes)  Mama! One. day. bibbit?
me: Yes, one day you can have a frog. Please close your eyes and try to sleep.
him: Bibbit, frog, one day.
me: yes.
him: Mama! One. day. bibbit?

me: yes, one day, you can have a bibbit.

I KID YOU NOT THIS WENT ON FOR AT LEAST 8 MINUTES back and forth about him getting a frog one day.

He is so silly.

He also likes to do or wear whatever we are doing or wearing. Especially when it comes to accessories.  Saturday I was wearing a headband. So he wanted a head band.  He points to his head and says headband too?  So I found the most masculine one in my drawer and he wore it proudly for the next hour.

He is so silly.

Scootin'

You can call him Scooter McScooterson.  My parents bought this for him for his 18 month birthday (is that even a real thing?) We can't leave the house without it.   Last night when we were coming home from a friend's house he was taking hills with serious speed and skill.  This kid is fearless.  It's quicker than letting him walk anywhere, cause when he's walking 2 blocks can take 20 min with all the distractions.

What next?  I guess a skateboard will soon follow.

Take Me To The Hospital

i scraped up my face
bounced my cheek on the floor
cause anything worth doing
is worth getting hurt for
i've made no mistakes
i'm never learning from that
i got no regrets
i wanna do it again
do it A -G- A- I- N

so you can take me to the H,
take me to the O,
want you to take me to the S,
take me to the P,
want you to take me to the I- T- A- L.
want you to take me to hospital....

- The Faint

It went like this:
Josh calls me at work and with an ever so calm voice says: "the boy fell down, split his head and may need stitches." next thing I know I'm in a cab headed home. I get home to a kid jumping off of things with a bloody head injury. This boy does not stop. One of his sitters is from Bolivia and knows to put the skin of an egg shell on an open wound to seal it up. So there he is with egg on his head smiling laughing and jumping. He stopped long enough for me to give him a hug and kiss and to tell me he fell down went "boooong!" and that it hurt. I packed the diaper bag and we were for ready for the ER. Since he was acting fine we took the subway 5 stops to the Children's ER. A call from a friend was made before we arrived so we only waited about 5 minutes before we were in the back with a doctor.
Once we were in it was quick and easy. Vitals were taken, egg washed off, wound cleaned out, assessed and super glued. Done and done. They were about to get the plastic surgeon for stitches, but since it was such a clean straight line they thought glue would be the best bet.  I have a feeling, this won't be our last glue/stitch him up visit to the ER.

MAMA, I'm so bored!

We Went to Boston

And All I got was this Lousy T-Shirt.

Just kidding. I didn't buy or get a t-shirt there.  BUT I did find my dream restaurant. For some reason I had in my head that I was going to eat at a vegetarian restaurant there.  When we travel we don't really seek out veggie restaurants, we can eat something anywhere we go, but I knew I had to find one in Boston.  We met up with our friend Robin who just moved there and we sat around the hotel room looking on yelp and google for a vegetarian restaurant.  All that kept coming up was Indian Food or Mexican. Been there done that. So we said lets just get in the car and head to our other friend's house and find a place on the way.  We were driving through Cambridge and I glanced up and read the words "Organic Oasis". I said: "OH! Stop the car, we just passed a place!!"  We found a parking spot and walked back to the restaurant. It was called "Life Alive".  It was perfect.  It was everything I ever wanted in a restaurant and definitely everything I wanted Saturday night for dinner.  All VEGETARIAN, ORGANIC, FRESH, DELICIOUS and reasonably priced food.  I was practically jumping up and down.  PLUS, one of my favorite things in the world is "Something delicious to drink".  Most of the time when I crave something it is "Something delicious to drink".  I'll say: "you know what I really want right now? Something delicious to drink."  Well, that can be anything. Sometimes it's fresh lemonade from a street fair, other times it is carrot juice, water, flavored water, chocolate milk - the list goes on and on. Anyway, they serve fresh juices and smoothies and I am pretty sure I had the best smoothie of my life, so far, there.

Josh had the The Kiddie Quesadilla, Robin had The Sufi Poet and I ordered The Fool (it was not foolish - it was delicious).  I asked the lady working there what was the best smoothie and she recommended the Vibrance Alive.  I love her for it.  Then this conversation happened:
Lady:  Do you want to eat upstairs or Downstairs?
Me: Hmmm... Doesn't matter, which is better for a 1 1/2 year old.
Lady:  Doesn't matter, both are good.  BUT downstairs has a play area.
Me: Oh. Then downstairs.

Did you catch that?!  A play area in a restaurant that isn't Chuck E. Cheese.

I am not getting paid for this by the way.  But if you are ever in the Boston area and want something healthy, you should eat there. Kids are welcome.

Here are some pictures:

Other Boston highlights included stumbling upon the Anime Convention. That was a cultural experience.  Eating at The Paramount and walking around Boston Commons. All in all I give Boston Two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Fine holiday fun.
